Harvesting Lobsters

The lobstering process begins with setting traps, known as lobster pots, on the ocean floor. These traps, carefully designed to lure and capture lobsters, are strategically placed in areas where these crustaceans thrive. Lobstermen navigate their boats, skillfully dropping each pot with precision and expertise, setting the stage for the upcoming harvest.

Lobsters for Hollywood

Live lobsters from Gloucester were shipped to Hollywood in 1945, packed in ice for the journey. This was done to ensure that the lobsters remained fresh during the long transportation. The practice of shipping live lobsters in ice helped meet the demand for seafood in Hollywood's thriving culinary scene at the time.
